PEO Perspective: October 2022
October is shaping up to be another busy month at PEO EIS, with several significant engagements on the horizon. But first, I’m pleased to share some great news with you.
GCSS-Army Full Deployment Decision and Authority to Proceed
On September 16, the Army Acquisition Executive (AAE) Hon. Douglas R. Bush approved the Authority to Proceed with full system deployment of PEO EIS' Global Combat Support System – Army's (GCSS-Army) Enterprise Aviation solution. The AAE’s full deployment decision is a major milestone for the program and the Army.
GCSS-Army is one of the five Army enterprise resource planning systems destined for convergence into one enterprise business system under the Army’s Enterprise Business Systems – Convergence initiative. I’m immensely proud of the hard work the GCSS-Army team has done over many years to realize this goal, and we are looking forward to more good things as the GCSS-Army Product Office plans to complete the full system deployment by September 2023.
Product Director Enterprise Services’ 10-Year Anniversary
This month, Project Director Enterprise Services (ES) celebrates its 10th anniversary. Enterprise Services (ES) is a recognized leader in shaping enterprise services acquisitions and driving innovation across the Army, offering commercial off-the-shelf resources to the Army’s workforce through the Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) program and providing Army team members with the means to communicate with each other — anytime, anywhere and on any device.
Congratulations to Team ES on 10 years!
COMING SOON: EBS-C DRAFT PPON #2
The Army is updating its enterprise business systems to maintain and improve our competitive advantage. Enterprise Business Systems – Convergence (EBS-C) is the Army’s initiative to modernize and streamline sustainment and finance business processes to increase velocity and fidelity of decisions on the battlefield.
This business transformation effort will enable the Army to capitalize on Information Age capabilities, move to the cloud, maximize the use of software-as-a-service, divest legacy systems and achieve a sustainable audit opinion. EBS-C will reduce overall sustainment costs and provide timely access to mission-critical data and analytics, enabling rapid delivery of effects on the battlefield and beyond.
This month, Army Contracting Command – Rock Island will release the second EBS-C Prototype Project Opportunity Notice (PPON).
You can view the Notice on Sam.gov – check out our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages for an update and link when posted.

AUSA 2022 Annual Meeting & Exposition
We are looking forward to again participating in the Association of the U.S. Army’s annual conference, scheduled for Oct. 10-12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. I am honored to participate in a Digital Transformation forum, “Modernizing Software Acquisition: Going Agile,” with ASA(ALT) and PEO leaders discussing topics that will include Agile software development, DevSecOps and upskilling the workforce.
We hope to see you there!
AFCEA Belvoir Industry Days
Right on the heels of AUSA, we are gearing up for the annual AFCEA Belvoir Industry Days, this year at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, Virginia, Nov. 7-9. This is our signature annual engagement, with full participation from PEO EIS leaders. Keeping checking our site — the agenda is coming soon with more detail about the keynotes, panels and breakout sessions.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Finally, this month we honor the brave men and men who have previously served or are currently deployed on National Day of the Deployed, Oct. 26. We also recognize the sacrifices of the families back home -- thank you from a grateful nation!
To our industry partners — thanks for bringing your best ideas and innovations, and thank you for all you do to support Soldiers, our Army and our nation.
