PEO Perspective: January 2023
Happy New Year!
Wishing everyone a healthy, meaningful and productive 2023. The team has put together a blog highlighting some of our achievements from 2022. I am proud of the team and all that we have accomplished. We are looking forward to a great year ahead!
LOOKING AHEAD
It is my pleasure to announce that Mr. Bill Hepworth has been selected to the position of deputy program executive officer for EIS.
Bill comes to PEO EIS from industry, where he most recently worked as the director for IT solutions at Tetra Tech, a consulting and engineering services firm, and he has more than 30 years’ experience in IT management with firms such as Octo, BAH, Blackstone and eGlobalTech.
Bill is meeting with the staff and the workforce over the coming weeks, and you will see him soon at future events and engagements with industry.
I know that you will join me in warmly welcoming Bill to the PEO EIS family!
ESTABLISHMENT OF CIO
As I shared in the 2022 highlights, it has been my goal to create a dedicated Chief Information Office (CIO) as part of EIS’ transformation into a more agile organization.
This directorate-level CIO office will be critical to providing technical integration across the portfolio, uniting our previously standalone software and networks portfolios.
I am excited to share with you that we have achieved this goal, and a new Chief Information Officer will be announced soon.
ONE DEDICATED ASSISTANT PEO
As part of this restructuring, we will no longer have two assistant PEOs (APEOs) representing the two mission areas — Business Mission Area and Networks, Cyber and Services — but instead will have only one APEO for the entire organization to provide programmatic integration.
Mr. Lee James, who will serve as APEO, has been with PEO EIS since 2004 and previously served as the APEO for the Business Mission Area and as the product director for Enterprise Services.
Lee has a proven record of success and is one of the most accomplished leaders we’ve ever had at EIS. He has my complete confidence as he takes on this role to lead the entire portfolio.
MLK DAY
This year marks the 36th annual national observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, celebrated on January 16.
Dr. King dedicated his life to equality and justice for every individual. His call to attain a better tomorrow shaped American history and continues to challenge us.
Dr. King said that “everybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
The Army is committed to the ideals espoused by Dr. King and is proud to honor his legacy of equity and inclusion. At PEO EIS, we strive to embody those values every day.
Thank you for all you do to support PEO EIS, the Army and Soldiers.
I hope your time with family, friends and loved ones this holiday season was filled with many blessings, and we look forward to working with you in 2023!
