A rock-solid teammate

Jelani Waters, an operation support specialist, is a member of a talented team led by Tony Kendrick that helps make more than 100 annual PEO EIS-hosted events run smoothly. "Jelani is one of the nicest people I know," said Jeannette Deskins, an executive assistant supporting PEO EIS. "He is always willing to lend a helping hand and never has something bad to say about anything or anyone."

A rock-solid teammate, Waters loves science, history and travel. A Maryland native and today’s #PEOEISTeammateTuesday, Waters answered questions about his career and life.

How would your friends describe you in three words?
Loyal, hardworking and adventurous.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Working out, running and traveling. I have traveled to several beautiful places in Arizona, including the Grand Canyon, Montezuma Castle and Sedona.

If you could have coffee with anyone in history or present day, who would it be and why?
My mom. I miss her every day.

Why have you been successful in your career?
I work hard, am dedicated to the mission and always support my team.

What does a good leader do?
A good leader is patient and trusts their team. Tony Kendrick has created a great team. We trust each other.

Why is PEO EIS a great place to work?
The workforce is united. We support each other.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?
I love history and science. I would go back to the Stone Age to experience what it was like to live in caves.

What is the best advice you received?
Never give up.

If you could thank one person for the role they played in your life, who would it be and why?
My mom taught me to work hard and follow my dreams.

Anyone living their best life

What do you consider the most valuable virtue?
Being dependable.

How would you like to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as someone people could come to for anything.
